Having a library-archives background, I love museums and galleries. I have attended many exhibitions in my time. While my memory isn't great these days, a stand-out exhibition was the Bon Scott-AC/DC one at the Powerhouse Museum about 15 years ago. I visited Perth-Fremantle around the same time and there was a Bon Scott exhibition there, although I don't remember the venue. I have souvenirs from both events but they're at the bottom of my garage, somewhere.
The most surprising thing was that Bon was a prolific letter writer and sender of post cards. There was a lot of written correspondence. It was quite touching. Bon obviously had a soft side and missed loved ones when he was away on tour.
There’s a Punk Museum in Las Vegas and a Museum of Post Punk and Industrial in Chicago. I haven’t been to either but I did see the Throbbing Gristle archive at the Cabinet Gallery in London which was great. I also saw the Nick Cave exhibition in Perth.
Slim Dusty museum up at Kempsey was great. Includes Ford Fairlane "Old Purple" w a great old caravan hooked up. Heaps of costumes and photos. Loved it. I hope it survives.
Not too far north of here is The pub w No Beer at Taylors Arm w lots more Aust country music heritage paraphenalia. For the full Slim Dusty tragic its not too far to go see Slims boyhood home near Bellbrook.
Also loved Tony Mott photo expo at NSW state library a few years back.
Warwick Gilbert (Radio Birdman and ex Disney artist) had an exhibit of his works in Redfern a few years back.
I’d love to take a trip to Slim Dusty’s museum, sounds like a dream! Great to learn it exists - and the pub with no beer! Thanks Job!
Oh and both Tony Mott and Warwick Gilbert are fantastic- I love the Warwick portrait of Don Walker!

I can only imagine the breadth and depth of ephemera an AC/DC - Bon Scott exhibition would have!
