I discovered Betty about 10 yrs ago on a road trip from Austin to Telluride. I freaked out! How had I missed her for so long? Huge fan now thanks to my husband 🤩
I absolutely LOVE Betty Davis and I'm always surprised by how many people have never heard of her so I'm glad you're spreading her music and her magic. I watched the doc when it came out and it kinda saddened me to see where she ended up. She deserves the highest accolades. But maybe I shouldn't have been saddened by it? Perhaps she was exactly where she wanted to be --out of the limelight, out of the toxic industry, etc. But it sucks she didn't live to see Beyonce's nod to her.
Yeah and nothing like feeling appreciated and seen when you're actually doing the thing. It made me sad too, even though she liked being out of it all, it was frustrating to know what an inspiration she was to so many but hadn't got to enjoy that fact or have financial comfort or the easy ability to record her songs or get them to other people to record. I'm so glad you love her too Carré (finally worked out how to type an accent!).
Lo❣️... you're constantly shining the light on so many artists I've never heard and filling me to the brim with your amazzzzing extraordinary realms of fascinating info and I've also been wanting to get back to you re your cat story but things got in the way so will do that one day because .. we're the same lol!
