The Loose Connections Recommender #29
On Fruity Feelings & The Everlasting Magic of Bob Dylan's Theme Time Radio Hour
‘A table, a chair, a bowl of fruit and a violin; what else does a man need to be happy?’ Albert Einstein
Everywhere I turn in the past few days, I see fruit.
Last night I stayed in an old timey English style hotel in Niagara-on-the-lake where the guest offering in the rooms is a plate with three oranges on it. This felt somewhat mysterious Twin Peaks-y. I peeled one and ate it, and it was rather stale, leading me to think it was not a particularly popular guest gift.
Then today I visited a butterfly conservatory and watched a magnificent gang of butterflies feasting greedily on a plate of cut oranges.

This got me thinking it was time I whipped up a Loose Connections Recommender for some juicy tips on good stuff to brighten your days.
Number One: Some of you may remember a wonderful period between 2006 and 2009 when a new episode of the 101 episodes created of Bob Dylan’s Theme Time Radio Hour would drop. As we didn’t have Sirius Radio in Australia, bootleg versions would be shared and traded amongst friends on home burnt CDs. I often found myself the lucky recipient of the latest thrilling episode delivered to my doorstep by one of my kind musical mentors Lorenzo. These shows were a revelatory cornucopia of Dylan deep dives, side notes and back stories for obscure songs, popular hits of the ages and hidden gems on themes that included whiskey, mothers, trains, cars, cats, blood, youth, age, matrimony … and fruit!
Eventually access to CD players dwindled and the show began to slip from our memories…but I was chatting with my friends Bleddyn & Jude recently and they mentioned how much they enjoyed listening to their treasure trove collection on road trips and so because I’m away from home and couldn’t go hunting into my secret stash of beloved CDs I keep tucked away in the shed, I searched ye olde YouTube and was thrilled to find there’s a whole bunch of them available there for our listening pleasure, thanks to the efforts of

Our new house has six fruit trees harking back to ye olde times when you had back yards and fruit!
Bob is like that tree that stubbornly holds on and keeps producing high quality fruit.
