Wow!! Thanks for including my book on Dylan in Cincinnati, Lo! Much love right back at you. By the way, just last week I saw Robyn Hitchcock and Emma Swift in concert and they put on a great show.
There are also some cool novels about music worth checking out if you're into fiction. My top five in no particular order would be Jennifer Egan's A Visit from the Goon Squad, Dana Spiotta's Stone Arabia, Elisa Albert's Human Blues, Nick Hornby's High Fidelity, and Don DeLillo's Great Jones Street.
Such a clever construct for a book Graley, really intriguing idea. Honestly I have not read alot of music based fiction - although I LOVE the strong music use in George Pelacanos crime fiction - so thank you for these. Based on Amy';s reaction I better start with Human Blues (great title too).
Great list! I've read a few of those. I would recommend The Adventures of the Rollings Stones by Stanley Booth about the band's 1969 US tour. Most rock bios aren't that well written but Booth is an exceptional writer. Many adventures within these pages.
Ah thanks Margaret - I read so many Rolling Stones bios before I turned twenty I didnt think I could be bothered with another one (except Keith's autobiography, which I adored) - but will check this out. I do love the band so much.
What a brilliant list - I would have included many of these too but I was attempting to restrict myself to Substack writers who had also written books. Thanks Job!
