I am absolutely jubilant to announce that the first episode of Season 1 of Death Is Not The End, the podcast I’ve been creating over the past few years is finally out and you can go listen to it HERE! New episodes to follow weekly.
Join host, singer-songwriter Lo Carmen, as she travels through the valley of death and emerges on the other side, exploring how we remember, eulogise and celebrate our loved ones, end of life navigations, mind-blowing death rituals and customs from all around the world , incredible innovations and futuristic options for after life planning, fascinating insights from Death’s door and examinations into the intersections of Art, Music, Life, Death and beyond.
In this episode I talked with Jason Leach from And Vinyly, who will literally take your cremated remains and turn you or your loved one into a real playable vinyl record - my fascination with this concept and determination to eventually become a record myself is pretty much what launched this death positive journey of discovery through some of the under explored realms of death care, dying, planning and working our way through it all.
When the album that is life finally reaches its end, why not keep that record spinning for eternity?
I loved hearing Jason’s story and learning about how this process works and I hope you love it too. Anyone else want to be a record after they’re gone?
I also conversed with Charles Chafer from Celestis Memorial Spaceflights who will turn cremains (cremated remains) into ‘ashtronauts’ and send them hurtling through space and the cosmos - just like Dr Timothy Leary and Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry!
Some of you with good memories may be experiencing some deja-vu - its true I did release this last year but quickly had to pull it down due to some copyright issues that had to be fixed - and as its a one woman operation/labour of love and I had some steep learning curves to climb, its taken me some time to get it exactly where it needed to be.
Although taking Death Is Not The End down and reworking it was pretty devastating and getting it back up has been quite the process, its only made it better, and turned out for the best and I’m truly delighted to be able to share it with you today.
I can’t wait to roll out new episodes every week - I have talked with some amazing people - CEOs, scientists, musicians, authors, death doulas, inventors, thinkers, artists, educators and friends - and discovered so many thought provoking and incredible things. Just like with Loose Connections, I promise it will be a wildly eclectic death curious journey, accompanied by music, art, culture and always searching for the joy.
Let me know what you think! Any space cadets or music lovers looking for the perfect final resting place here?
Also give me your hearts and share the hell out of Loose Connections would ya pretty please?
Go your own way friends x
Great that you're talking about the last of the great taboos, Lo. Looking forward to listening.
I cannot wait for these episodes. Such a great idea. 🔥🙌
