You're so full of surprises Lo. I learn a bit more about you with every piece you write.

a bright shiny star you are.

It is great fun getting to the age when we hear from friends that the giants played as unknowns at high schools many moons ago (replying to Sioux Cee there, sorry.)

Lo I also own a copy of that Meanjin and I remember that piece, it’s terrific. Rock on you crazy diamond ❤️❤️

Yes I wish I’d got to see AC/DC at my high school!

I went to see the Sports (The Sports?) at a local boys school with some girls who were nuts about them. As I had Buckley’s chance of ever getting into a pub at that stage of my life, that was a hoot. I still like the Sports now as a result, for sentimental reasons I suppose. Steve Cummings is a funny man, his bio is hilarious.

Same school had had Skyhooks earlier on, my cousin reports - the boys would pay the princely sum of $5 each (I think, hard to remember back to 1978 now) so they could get a good band and hopefully some fun girls from the ladies’ colleges haha.

Great read, as usual. Super impressed at your rock n roll lineage - you chose your parents well.

Ha, that I did!!

Great read Lo. Suzi Q, Imprevu perfume, great memories for me too.

I still have a dog-eared copy of that issue of Meanjin, also chewed by our family rabbit. He must have loved it. He also chewed Shantaram.

Bon Scott changed my life without a doubt when ACDC appeared at my high school as the unknown support for Skyhooks (one of many bands we experienced) - live music, nothing can beat it. Thank you Mr Cranage - the legend -who brought live music to school nearly every Friday - you would have fit in there perfectly x

All hail Mr Cranage! Thank god for cool teachers.

Thanks Lo, it hurts to read about your Dad lighting up a room, I had planned to see at Semaphore. Of course fate decrees we are on grandaughter duty as our daughter is pregnant and unwell, her husband is working all evening.

If it's any consolation I am sending my stalwart friends Dave and Stephen along.

They are defo local identitys.

As for Robyn A she went to my old high school in Enfield, the same year as my sister.

That era Don Dunstan, festival, Athens of the South.

I was never a parish at school because my spirit animal is a chameleon, I can blend.

But my long term mate Mark and I listened to Nighthawks at the Diner by Tom Waits at lunch time.

I did also have a crush on Suzie Q and your story brought it flooding back.

Off to play blocks with wee Daisy.

Hope Dave & Stephen had a good time, I hear it was a cracker! But not much beats playing blocks with a little one ❤️❤️❤️

I'm sure they did, I am a more than handy block stacker.
